ZoomInfo Ships MCP Tools to Surface Buyer Intent Inside Claude and ChatGPT — Only 16% of GTM Leaders Say It's Actually Working Yet
ZoomInfo published two Model Context Protocol tools that let reps query buyer-intent data in natural language from inside whatever AI assistant they already use, instead of opening a separate dashboard. Search Intent is a free tool that finds companies showing intent signals on relevant topics; Enrich Company Signals returns intent, news, and deal-intelligence “scoops” for up to ten companies per call, billed at one data credit per signal returned. Supported clients span Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini Enterprise, Perplexity, and Slack, with use cases including territory triage, pre-call meeting prep, and ABM prioritization. The credibility problem sits in ZoomInfo’s own numbers: a survey of 50 senior GTM leaders found 52% unsure whether querying GTM data via MCP was actually helpful, and only 16% said it was genuinely working — while separately, just 14% of organizations reportedly have MCP in place at all. TDWI research sponsored by ZoomInfo found nearly two-thirds of organizations reporting measurable AI value said company data was foundational to most or all of their use cases, versus under 10% among those seeing no measurable value.
Two other pieces this month diagnose the gap those numbers describe. Aviso’s The Memory Gap argues revenue AI misses buying intent not from a lack of information but because business context sits scattered across disconnected systems — fragmented account data, invisible multi-stakeholder relationships, signals without execution, and no continuity across a multi-week buying journey. Its framing: “Revenue teams don’t need another assistant to complete individual tasks…they need a unified intelligence layer that connects every signal.” Highspot’s How to blend purpose-built and horizontal AI for GTM makes a related point about MCP specifically, calling it connective tissue between horizontal tools like Claude and ChatGPT and the deal-context that purpose-built GTM platforms hold — while citing Gartner research that organizations prioritizing seller AI upskilling are 2.4x more likely to hit strong revenue growth.
The through-line: MCP is solving a real plumbing problem, but ZoomInfo’s own 16% figure suggests the bottleneck isn’t the protocol — it’s the same context-fragmentation and readiness gap Aviso and Highspot are independently describing. Piping intent data into a chat window doesn’t fix a broken account model underneath it.
