Former HubSpot CMO's New Marketing MCP Bets Reps Won't Wait on RevOps for a Report Again
Passetto, the marketing-analytics venture founded by former HubSpot CMO Chris Walker, launched a Marketing Analytics MCP server that lets B2B SaaS marketing teams query performance data directly through Claude or ChatGPT instead of waiting on RevOps or marketing ops for a custom report. It sits on top of a governed data foundation that normalizes people data, marketing activity, opportunities, pipeline, and revenue, with pre-built KPI definitions from Passetto’s own measurement methodology so answers stay consistent across ad hoc questions — covering the full buyer lifecycle and sliceable by segment, campaign, and business unit. CEO Carolyn Dilks frames the release around a specific, persistent bottleneck: “marketing leaders have been at a persistent disadvantage…they shouldn’t have to depend on RevOps or Marketing Ops every time they need a new report.”
Dilks also puts a caution alongside the pitch that’s worth taking seriously as its own claim: “if the underlying data and methodology aren’t trustworthy, you can simply get the wrong answer faster.” That’s the real thesis buried under the MCP launch — conversational access to data is only as good as the governance underneath it, and Passetto is betting marketing teams will pay for the governed foundation, not just the chat interface sitting on top of it.
The MCP-over-lock-in pattern shows up elsewhere in GTM tooling the same month: Outreach’s partner ecosystem, spanning more than 100 live marketplace integrations, now lets AI agents reach across a customer’s connected tools via Outreach’s own MCP connectors rather than requiring a closed proprietary agent stack — with partners like Sendoso and Demandbase already wiring real actions like gift-sends and account intelligence into that layer.
For RevOps and marketing-ops leaders evaluating vendor lock-in risk, the direction both moves point to is the same: the winning position in agentic GTM tooling isn’t owning the assistant a rep talks to, it’s being the governed, cited data source that assistant is required to check.
